Catrin Thorp Jungian Analytical Psychotherapist

Jungian Analytical
Psychotherapist

I’m Catrin and I’m an experienced Jungian Analytical Psychotherapist working in private practice with individual adults in Birmingham, UK. I’ve worked in private psychotherapy practice for over ten years and I really enjoy the work I do.

I tend to work long-term with patients and I also offer clinical supervision to psychotherapists and counsellors.

I am the current Chair of the Analytical Psychotherapy Training: Birmingham (APT:B) for whom I am a Training Analyst and Supervisor.

I believe that long-term psychotherapy is one of the best investments anyone can make. When it works well, it can be profoundly life-changing. I don’t know of anything else that offers such a thorough, deep and optimistic examination of the heart and soul of an individual.

My Approach

My particular approach is Jungian Analytical Psychotherapy which was founded by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung. It was his belief that anyone, at any stage of life, could find a sense of meaning and purpose through self-exploration. Based on his views, psycho-therapy is away of treating the ‘psyche’ (or ‘mind’/’soul’) from disharmony or imbalance so that we are better equipped to live from our true selves.

I also draw upon the work of other important theorists such as Donald Winnicott, Melanie Klein and Wilfred Bion amongst others.
